More and more global manufacturers are exposed to the evolving industry challenge of making sense of the data collected on the shop floor. Rockwell Automation has recognized this development early on and initiated their connected enterprise journey back in 2008. The goal was to converge the operations technology environment that plants operate in with the information technology world that they also operate in. Rockwell didn’t just collected data of their main plants, but also used insights from their sister plants to make them benefit from each other and to avoid similar problems within different plants. The above-mentioned measures led to a major reduction of the parts per million defect rate and drove productivity significantly.
