Within the scope of the Pharma MES & Process Minds event B. Braun Melsungen created a case study focused on extending MES functionality by integrating MES (Level 3) to a Lower Level Batch Control System (Level 2). The presentation first introduced basic components of MES and expanded Level 2 and 3 integration with respect to its planning, specification and development steps to provide a best practise case for a successful integration.
- B.Braun Melsungen integrated MES with ERP via ISA 95 layers for IT landscape.
- They established what activities the different levels will be controlling.
- Receive-message-type basic functions are used to the process flow between the MES and the underlying system.
